LG: Age of dedicated gaming handhelds is 'over'
Despite pimping the Nintendo 3DS, and Sony is gearing up for the PlayStation Home Vita Korean tech company LG has declared the era of pure gaming handhelds over. Well, Nintendo and Sony better pack and go home now.
"The era of dedicated handheld gaming platform is over," said CEO Dr. Jong-Seok Park, "Today 's smart phones have the power to be the best portable game console and LG Optimus 3D competition our proof \. "
The quotation above is an edited version of what originally told Park that the company quietly removed from its updated press release. He added that originally, "We think 3D is the natural next step in portable entertainment centers, and LG is committed to providing our hat to throw into the ring with the Optimus 3D and Gameloft 's' must-seen be-- to-be-believed "title \."
What do you mean? Smartphones have already eclipsed the likes of 3DS and Vita, or is there still room for "right" handheld gaming devices?
