Hackers target Sega Pass database in latest computer gaming attack
Games giant Sega sends e-mail to users by e-mail addresses, birth dates and passwords to say have been accessed
Sega has the latest computer games to fall victim to hackers giant after warning users of its Sega pass system that some of their personal data stolen.
The company sent an e-mail to say on Friday that e-mail addresses, birth dates, and encrypted passwords were accessed by hackers, but no financial information was in danger.
The Sega-pass system was taken offline on Thursday, and all users 'passwords have been reset. Customers were advised to beware of suspicious e-mails asking for more personal information.
The hacker group Lulz security seemed to refuse participation, even though leading a wave of recent cyber-attacks as they appear on Sony. Said a tweet with the account LulzSec @ "@ Sega - please contact us, we want to help you destroy the hackers that attacked you .."
"We have identified that a subset of Sega Pass members emails addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords were obtained. To stress, none of the passwords obtained were stored in plain text.
