Zynga Secures $147 Million Investment
Social gaming company Zynga has secured a 13.5 billion yen ($147m / ?98.8m) investment from Japanese telecommunications and media firm SoftBank.
The Tokyo-based company and the FarmVille maker are in talks to distribute and jointly promote games through SoftBank's mobile-phone service in Japan and other countries, according to Nikkei English News (via Bloomberg).

NPD Offers 2009 Sales Estimates
According to estimates released by NPD Group, U.S. consumers spent $4.5 - $.4.75 billion on used games, rentals, subscriptions, digital downloaded games, downloadable content, and mobile applications. This data comes from refined "point-of-sale tracking, consumer research (using tools like Games Acquisition Monitor, Video Game & PC Game Subscriptions Tracker, and Consumer Purchase Tracker), and figures provided by NPD retail and its publisher partners," according to a Gamasutra report.
A good portion of that figure, the report says, comes from downloadable content and digitally distributed games. This helped bring the total amount consumers spent on video games in 2009 to $15.0 - $15.25 billion. The other $10.5 million in that figure comes from consumers buying physical media, though a breakdown of that data (how much was from new versus used games, for example) was not available.

My sister is a huge Dr. Who fan so she was ecstatic to receive this from me for Christmas. My (and her) only complaint is that because she is on Verizon's network, the charm doesn't work like it's supposed to (when you receive a call or text message, it's supposed to spin and light up). If she was on the correct network, it would work. It does randomly spin and light up but we haven't figured out exactly what is triggering it. Even with it not working correctly on her phone, she is still very happy with it. My only comment on this item is if you want it to work correctly, make sure you have the right network first.
I hastily purcha sed the Dalek charm before I read the reviews that it WON'T work for most phones that are on the 3G Network. Bummer. On the other hand, it is a pretty cute ornament for any Doctor Who fan. To not make this a total loss, I customized my profile on my cell with a Dalek soundwave saying/screeching "EXTERMINATE!" :P
I've never used a cell phone charm before, mostly because I couldn't find one that would really suit me. However, when I heard that they had come out with a Doctor Who phone charm, and that it was a Dalek of all things, I knew it was time for me to act.
The charm itself was surprisingly big. It's about 1.5 inches in height and .75 inches in diameter. If you think that's going to bother you while you're on the phone then I wouldn't recommend it, but I don't seem to be having any trouble with it and I'm a phone charm novice. This charm is made of hard plastic, and it's very easy to install (i.e., you don't have to do anything to get it to work). Additionally, it has a very bright light, so be sure to hide it well if you're in a no-cellphone area.
Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. For the price you can't go wrong, and it shows off your Doctor Who fandom in style.

This book shows the overall and objective vision about game development (mainly concepts). I think that for beginners it 'is the best way to start the game (and not just for mobile phones, but also for any system).

Voting for the shortlist, finally, went to live at the world 'most popular video games in the awards ceremony, Britain' s 28th annual Golden Joystick Awards.
