Minecraft claims inaugural GameCity Prize
make the world better than the likes of Portal 2 and limbo with the recognition of the festival
Minecraft won first GameCity ever. The festival of video games based in Nottingham announced the decision at a ceremony on Saturday evening.
The creation of the world's game was against the likes of Portal 2, and the limbo of Pokemon Black in a competition judged by a diverse panel including Tom Watson MP, writer and comedian Charlie Higson, and South Bank Centre, Jude Kelly as artistic director.
"Price GameCity GameCity festival that seeks to explore and celebrate the game as being at the cutting edge of art, including contemporary art," said festival director Iain Simons. " / Aa>
"We are delighted to have won the first GameCity," said Persson, "especially since the nominees are some of our favorite games recently. It is an honor to be compared to games. "
