The Adventures of Tintin - review
DS/PC/PS3/Wii/Xbox 360, cert: 12 +, Ubisoft
Growing up, it was assumed that everyone in the camp of Asterix and Tintin, but at the age of eight years, thanks to the influence rational an older cousin, who was Daredevil already absorbed in the dog and strontium. My first memories of series of reports Belgian comic strip, with its introduction menacing voice. "Hergé's Adventures of Tin Tin ...!" cried the narrator. So much so that I would always switch.
As an adult, I learned to appreciate the art of Hergé qualified and richness of their stories subtextual globe-trotting - even if none of these qualities are actually shown here, c is an entertaining video game interpretation of rapid action, detailed environments and evil subtle caricature. Ubisoft Montpellier, after all the work of the legendary creative writing Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman, and do not know how to give life and style in a 2D platform, probably worth remembering.
As with the next film, The Adventures of Tintin Ubisoft, it combines three original stories - The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn and The Treasure of Rackham the Red - one story . Tintin run, jump and find your way through a series of mansions environments well designed and palaces of Morocco to ships and coastal caves hidden.
The main character is able to balance the athletic ability along the bar, push and pull levers and jump to reach higher levels in the walls of the narrow well. These movements are intuitive and easy to access, which recalls the deliciously smooth movement of the original Prince of Persia title. The enemies can not be treated by a combat system with a single button, or beaten by throwing objects such as bouncing balls and tin cans. Amusingly, their victims are struck only once - switch to the collapse, along with bird tweets and cartoon sounds of the cuckoo clock.
- The level of difficulty - for a game for kids and fans eventually Hergé, who often play console games - is perfectly judged. The environmental puzzles are well marked and logical checkpoints are placed well, and the end times in the head bad time out of your way to guide you in one piece. Detours bit interface, such as scuba diving and flight sequences in which it is lifted into the air by a bird friendly, and they work well in 2D convince kingdoms.
- The game is much less certain, however, in the sections where the flight platform environments. There are sections in exploration in 3D where the camera is fixed Resident Evil style, and are often forced into situations where you can hardly guess the intention of sailing without the designer. And there are few good mini-games where you and Captain Haddock (a regular partner throughout the game) must guide a plane through the storm clouds or ride a motorcycle and sidecar in the desert for recording the enemies. Even worse are the flashback sequences of short, where Haddock ancestor, the captain of the ship Unicorn, which is delivered to the sword fighting indefinitely in anger against the pirates. The controls are difficult and unclear goals - it just feels like unnecessary padding
