postheadericon Carmack On the Wii U and PS Vita

Gamespot spoke at length with id Software 's John Carmack at E3 about the upcoming FPS RAGE (which is now only a few months away from release), and reveals his thoughts on the new console from Nintendo and Sony offer. He seems optimistic about the Wii underground, and rather less about the CV. "But you know, bring the technology level to [the Wii U] is at parity with the other consoles, which is nice for us. Before the Wii was not a goal. Id Tech 5 was simply not suited for the Wii at all. ... Now that we 'are in a different platform, ideal for the technology, I' m sure that we 're trying to get it up and there is going on. "On the other hand, Carmack and Tim Willits both expressed concerns about whether Nintendo users were the right demographic for id games. Of the Vita, he said, "I wouldn 't want the executive decision to start a new portable gaming machine in the post-smartphone world. I think they' ve to be eminently a suitable hardware specification included they could for it. ... But of course, from which they can actually ship this smartphone or tablet with twice as much current as what they 're there with shipping. And one or two years later, it' s will look pretty shabby. "
